LILY POND

The light is beginning to change,

PARIS 2009 DAY TEN GIVERNY

Took many pictures at Giverny. These are a few.

PARIS BY TWILIGHT 2009 DAY NINE

Today I got "dragged" to the Hotel de Ville Bazzar (a hugh department
store that has anything you could possibly want and to a tea shop called
Mariage Freres to have tea. I must confess, it actually was pretty
good.

Street scene as we are walking to the metro.

Same street different direction.

You can barely see Notre Dame in the distance.

In the metro as we came down the stairs. They were playing
a selection from "Carmen". They were very good.

St. Eustache Church at the end of our street.

PARIS TRIP 2009 DAY EIGHT

Monday was the last day that our museum passes were valid so
we decided to finish our left bank walk and see St. Chapelle and the
Conciergerie. When we arrived we found out that St. Chapelle was
from 1:00 to 2:15 so we had lunch at a cafe across the street.

Street scene as we emerged from the metro.

Palace of Justice in the background. There was a demonstration
in front of the palace while we were having lunch in a cafe on the left.

The Conciergerie is where prisoners were held before they were
guillotined. There is a list of 2780 names of those who went to their
death.

I looked for Charbonneau but this is as close as I came.

Exterior of St. Chapelle.

King Louis IX built this church to house the
" Crown of Thornes". He's the only French king to be
named a saint. This is the ground floor where the servants
worshipped.

More stained glass.

Scene over the door

Rose window of St. Chapelle.

PARIS TRIP 2009 DAY EIGHT

More stained glass in St Chapelle using different
light settings on the camera.

The altar on the "Royal' level. The servants worshipped
down stairs, the King on this level with all the stained glass.

The Palace of Justice. St Chapelle was the only place we had to stand in
even with the Museum Pass. I can understand the reason. It is the
entrance to the French Supreme court and also the Court of Appeals.

The cafe where we had lunch. It's across the street from St. Chapelle.
We sat under the second window on the left. Good meal

On our way home we walked across this bridge to
"Bule Mich" had a cafe au lait in a cafe, watched people
on their way home from work and took the Metro back to
the apartment. Had dinner again at Etienne Marcels.
Another wonderful day in Paris.

PARIS TRIP 2009 AFTERNOON DAY 7

Brunch in this cafe across from the church. Had a delicious
omelette. After brunch we walked another few blocks to the
best pastery shop ever. Gerard Mulot's!! I bought my favorite dessert.
Baba au Ruhme. It was delicious.

Photo op in Paris

St Germain des Pres Church. The oldest in Paris. After seeing it
we went to the Cluny Museum which has a lot of art from the
Middle Ages, caught the Metro and had dinner at the
Cafe Etienne Marcel right here on our street.
